Photo of me taken around the late 1970's riding Reida (out of Delilah Bint Rafi by Indrani) at the Sherif Pyramind Stud.
I am Pauline Atkinson, a former Registered Nurse and lifelong horse woman. My yard and small stud is located near Ludlow in the stunning countryside of South Shropshire. I am interested in endurance riding, horsemanship training and Crabbet Arabians. Horses have been an important part of my life for over 50 years.
My interest in Crabbet Arabians started in the late 1970's, although I didn't realise it at the time as my love was for Arabians. It is just that most of them in those days were Crabbets!
Keeping the horses as naturally as possible is very important to me. My horses are rarely stabled and live barefoot on a track system. Even my stallion has his own track, always with company and in sight of his harem.
Whitton Court
How do you choose a name? I took my inspiration from the heritage of this beautiful place that has changed very little over the centuries. Whitton Park Arabians is located on what was once the parkland of Whitton Court which is an old Elizabethan manor house. The old wall of the park is still largely intact and can be found running through the yard and horse paddocks. It seemed very appropriate to name the new stud Whitton Park.

Set in the beautiful countryside of South Shropshire, Whitton Park and its paddocks are surrounded by mature trees which provide natural shelter which ever direction the wind blows.
We keep many of our horses on a track or paddock paradise system. We find it keeps both brood mares and stallion moving and in good condition. Hay is fed ad lib all year round. We also have traditional paddocks which we mainly use in the winter as we are on heavy clay and the tracks turn very muddy and slippery.
This facility is used for teasing, covering and foaling down. It is linked to the mare's track system, they have access to this area which enables freedom to roam and a place to retreat to when the flies, wind or rain get too much. The smaller pens are very useful for vet visits and isolating horses for example if extra feeds are needed.
Our stallion facilities run parallel but separate from the mares and young stock. The stallion shelter is directly off the double fenced stallion track system and next to the mares all weather area. As you can see our stallion Seren Sadrh (right) always has company, gelded son Whittonpark Hadrh gets on with him really well.
